As part of my lovely (and mostly pointless) Speech class, we must give a group presentation. Thus I was assigned to several women, all particularly nice I will say that, and a few men in baseball caps who mumbled out their own responses.
The estrogen proportions must have frightened them.
We finished with our first tasks - making a group contract and coming up with 8 tips for good listening - extremely early. Thus we were allowed to wander out, along with the second group.
One particular member of the second group was a girl I remembered from my Math 095 (yes, a supplementary course. I suck at math. Mucho.). She is shorter than me, somewhere round 5'0" I would guess and, as I remember, an aspiring fire fighter or EMT.
As I pass through the door, I hear my name called. "Amanda! Wait a minute!" I did that and she came up and promptly asked, "Are you still writing fan fiction?"
I tried to remember how she had known I wrote fan fiction now and then. We had discussed fan fiction, I remember, while sitting there in the corner of the room, brains rotting from the amount of math inflicted upon us.
"Yeah, when I have the time. Time's a limited thing now though." Not that I don't have plenty of it. But I hate to actually write out any fan fiction - I much prefer typing it.
So she turned to the girl waiting for her outside, grabbed my arm and said, "This is Amanda - she's the one who got me into fan fiction!"

I felt warm and mushy, I did I did. Go me, I be influencing people.
Actually, that's a scary thought.
I must leave though.

~Amanda~
